Talking to Patients About the
Best Contact Lens Option
It's important to discuss the potential benefits of the best contact lens option with
a patient in terms of eye health,
comfort, vision and convenience.
Offer a trial wear period and explain the need for follow-up visits. If the contact
lens performs to expectations, then dispense and/or release the new prescription, along with any final instructions for
use. Otherwise, if no other options are appropriate, reassure the patient. Explain that, while
you determined no change
to be the best solution for the time being, you'll revisit the issue of new options at his next eye exam.

A recent survey of 150 Eye Care Professionals
