Fitting Tip of the Month
Choosing the Right Lens for the Right Patient
When choosing a contact lens for a patient, know your patient as well as you know the lens choices available. A comprehensive case history is key to choosing the right lens. Your patient's motivation for contact lens wear, expected wear time, realistic cleaning capabilities, related health issues and past contact lens history are all vital pieces of information that will save you time. Combine this information with your patient's prescription to narrow down you choices. Recommend what's best for the patient regardless of cost. And remember, like shoes, more than one lens can be recommended to satisfy the various aspects of a patient's life.
