 UV Protection and CL Wear
Wearing protection against UV radiation is something I recommend to every patient because of its well-known implications in degenerative disease processes such as macular degeneration and cataracts. Being able to provide this protection in contact lenses has the added benefit of covering the entire pupil and therefore protecting the internal eye structures, not only from direct light, but also from stray side rays that sunglasses may not block. In combination with sunglasses, UV blocking contact lenses give patients the total protection that they can feel good about, just as we can feel good knowing we’ve helped prevent future UV damage to their eyes.
