Ensuring Safety with Contact Lens Wear
Here are some suggestions to keep patients eyes healthy during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season:
- Remind patients to carry a spare set of contact lenses or back-up glasses with them on overnight trips or long-distance driving excursions.
- Re-educate patients on the importance of wearing sunglasses, despite sometimes gloomy weather this time of year.
- Educate contact lens wearers that problems with dryness may be more prevalent in cooler weather due to a decrease in overall humidity levels. Recommend or provide a sample of quality rewetting drops.
- Discuss the importance of maintaining a proper contact lens wearing schedule, despite numerous activities and busy social calendars during this holiday season.
